Background and Purpose:
In March 2009, a delegation representing the Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan: The National Network spent 12 days in Southern Sudan assessing the challenges and opportunities currently facing the country. The delegation conducted over 40 meetings with GOSS leaders, SPLM officials, state and local community leaders, members of clergy and humanitarian agencies. The purpose of the conference was to share what we learned and to consider how together we can address the needs of the Southern Sudanese – those living in Sudan and in the US. Topics focused on key issues relating to education, employment, development, advocacy, and the upcoming elections and referendum in Sudan.
